Use The Title Text To Get Website Traffic
Posted: | Author: Fletch | Filed under: Keyword Research | No Comments »We all know the importance of keywords when writing any content to put on your website.
Keywords are the signposts that will direct visitors to your pages and Google and all the search engines use these phrases to determine the relevance of your pages to search enquiries.
In the old days webmasters would try many different tactics to put as many keywords on their pages as possible to bump up the ranking of a particular page. This is called “keyword stuffing” and it no longer works, in fact it will get you dropped from the index faster than you can say boo.
However there are places that you can add your keywords that will help you and help the search engines find you.
When you visit any webpage you often see pictures or images, these make the page prettier or help explain the content but they do have another use.
Next time you are on a page just hover yor mouse over the image, does a little caption appear to give you some information?
This is called the Title text and it is a good place to get in a keyword or two but how many webmasters use it? No end of images have either no Title or it just comes up “image.7344872.jpg” or some such thing.
This is a total waste. Google can’t see pictures and so you have to tell it what is there. So if the image has a label or title which says “Red High Heels” Google can understand it and not only that it will index it.
This benefits you in two ways, it improves the SEO on the page thus making it more relevant which can improve your chances of ranking in the index AND images themselves can appear on the results pages of Google.
I have a site for which I am ashamed to say I cannot get on to page one of Google and yet I am recieving hundreds of visitors per month from their results, why? My image comes up at position three under the images found tag.
Make sure you use the Title text in your images and do not waste the oppurtunity to get more traffic. It does not matter what you are promoting a good title tag can help you.
