How Can I Make Money Online?

Ok, the first decision you have to make is, how am I going to make money online?

Here I am talking about models, that is, your business model. There are almost as many ways to earn cash online as there are people but two of the best ones in my opinion are :

Authority sites: These are big websites with lots of pages covering a small niche in big detail. If you have a special interest, say, fishing, golf, steam engines you may be attracted to this way of doing things. It allows you to write about your hobby and if you can make money with your hobby it is a great way to go.

Wham Bang sites: A wham bang site is a small, perhaps only one page site. These are often referred to as mini-sites because they are very small and tightly focused. A wham bang site gets in, grabs the cash and gets out, sort of special forces style.

What type of model appeals to you?

An authority site will make you money but there are some cons as well as the big pro of writing about what you like. The biggest draw back is competition. If your hobby is golf or fishing you are going to be up against some fierce hurdles, these areas are saturated for the very good reason that golfers and anglers spend money. Marketers know this and have targeted it in their millions.

A wham bang site is a lot less fussy, generally faster to produce a income stream and is less work to produce. However, if you go the wham bang route you do have to be prepared to be continually researching keywords and looking for the next microniche to exploit.

Make no mistake there is always work to be done, make money overnight? No, it won’t happen. Make money over a few weeks, yes, it may well happen, but make money for no work? never happen.

Over the next few weeks I am going to look at how you and I can make money online and see if we can’t cut through the crap and find a way to make it a little easier. Most of what we will look at will be free and common sensical but a bit of cash laid out here and there can speed things up so I will point out a few of the tools I use.
