Aweber is possibly the leading autoresponder service on the market today with a huge following especially amongst people who run their businesses online.

An autoresponder is at it’s heart an email management system. Any one who has a website and wishes to grow a subscriber base will need an autoresponder.

The way it works is this:

Open an account at www.aweber.com.

When you have an account you can start setting up your list. A list allows you to send automated emails to anyone who subscribes to that list.

So for example we create a list called ‘The Big Diet Solution’

We can now create a ‘web form’ This is the form that you see on many sites asking you to fill in your email.

The web form can take many shapes and designs and you can choose the form which matches your site.

Now, when someone fills out the form by entering their email address, Awebber takes over and delivers your emails automatically, hence the name, auto responder. It responds automatically.

You can set up the messages in your account so that they are delivered in a set order and at pre-determined times, this is the reason that autoresponders are so popular with internet marketers.

You can set up a whole string of messages and every time someone fills in the form they get the whole sequence in order and at the right time. Indeed I have one sequence that delivers a weekly message every seven days for a whole year.

Obviously there is a certain amount of preparation to do but you only have to do it once and then forget about it.

How to set up Aweber

The trick to using Aweber successfully is to prepare it properly. The way I do it is to set up the form for a free ebook. In order to get the free ebook the visitor has to fill out the form.

Aweber will then send them an email asking them to confirm their request, this is called double opt-in and it gives you some protection against spam complaints, you can use single opt-in where no confirmation mail is sent but you are then more susceptible to being called a spammer.

Once they click the link in the confirmation email I then get Aweber to direct them to the page on my site where they can downlad their free ebook.

At the same time Aweber.com will add their name to my list. This is the most important part and the whole reason for using an autoresponder.

From here on in, my autoresponder will send everyone on my list an email in a set pattern. So my Diet Solution list will receive a welcome email first. Then every seven days they will get an email with more diet tips.

For the first five or so emails I do not sell anything, I just give free information, after that I will mix in a few promos and this is when your list will start to earn you money.

It is reckoned that each subscriber will be worth on average one dollar per month, imagine if you had a list of 5000 subscribers on your list, or ten thousand?

This is the ultimate rinse and repeat business model, build a list, sell to it, keep on selling to it,  build another list and so on. The more lists you build the more money you will make.

Adsense WordPress Themes Fast Enough?

Anybody who has some Adsense monetised virtual real estate should be aware by now of the importance of website delivery speed.

Google has publicly stated that the load speed of a site is a factor in its ranking algorithm and so you should be making an effort to decrease the time it takes to deliver your pages to the users browser.

Unfortunately as some of you may know, WordPress, the marketers platform of choice can be a tad on the slow side unless you make some cuts here and there.

WordPress has gained such a strong foothold because of the ease of use it gives to the average marketer and therein lies the problem.

Plug-ins, because we can, we do. How many plug-ins do you use on your site? Do you know the time cost of each one?

It’s all well and good sticking various bells and whistles on your MFA sites but at the end of the day do you really need them?

Personally I use just two or three, the obvious All-In-One-SEO and Google Sitemaps with the occasional internal link builder if I am using some auto-blogger software.

However I still go through each theme and strip out all the unnecessary php that I can and replace it with static urls. This can make a huge difference in load speed and I suggest you do it too.

The choice of theme is important especially for Adsense sites, nothing too fancy and a minimum of calls to the database. If it can provide some ad management then all the better.

I am in the process of switching over to the Adsense WordPress theme from CTR Themes as these are specialist themes designed from the ground up to produce the best possible click through ratio, hence the name, get it?

I am hoping to save myself a bucket of time by not having to butcher wordpress themes for every site now and the ad management facility will hopefully do its job and produce an extra kick to the CTR.

So, think about speed and whether you really need that plug-in.
